Electronics Design and Simulation Lab (Rm RC2.61)
and the Advanced Electronics Lab

Laboratory Use

These laboratories are available for IIST students to run the advanced software components of IIST papers  They may also be used for internet access - providing restraint is exercised. Feel free to search for and download data sheets and other information relevant to your studies. Downloading pictures, sound files or movies or installing unauthorized software  is NOT acceptable and will result in your access being withdrawn. The university has a Policy for the use of its network.

Safety

Gradual Process Injuries (GPI, formally known as OOS) are a hazard of using a computer caused by poor posture and tense muscles. This website has information on how to prevent GPIs. To report a hazard there's a form on this page. Hazzards have been assessed for Riddet 12, 2.03, RC2.61. If you have an accident use the form on this page.

Storage

You cannot write to the local hard disks. Instead you have "personal" space on a networked drive which we have mapped to H:. Please keep this tidy by creating directories in a logical fashion. Also, delete unwanted files or move them to a "to be deleted" directory if you are unsure.

To transfer work to a classmate use a directory on the I drive. The area under Files is for temporary storage and is  accessible by everyone. All data is transferred to "Old Files Scheduled For Auto Deletion" each Saturday.

Note: you'll find network disk access is much faster than using a flash disk, especially for file intensive programs.

Printing

Your print budget has been set based on the papers you are taking. Don't blow it by printing lecture notes. However, if necessary, you can purchase a topup from the SEAT office.
